Frequently Asked Questions
What does a laser therapy treatment feel like?
Little to no sensation is felt during treatment. Some people have reported feeling mild warmth or tingling sensation.
How long does a laser therapy treatment take?
Average treatment time is 5-10 minutes, although each treatment will vary depending on the size and condition being treated.
How often and how many treatments does it take?
It depends on the nature and severity of the condition. Acute cases may require daily treatment, especially if they are accompanied by significant pain. Chronic conditions respond when treatments are received 2 to 3 times per week, with a gradual tapering to once a week or every other week as symptoms improve. For example, some acute conditions may only need 1-6 treatments, while a chronic condition may take 10-20.
How long before results are felt?
Some people report feeling improvement in symptoms (usually pain) after the first treatment. However, for some it may take a number of treatments before symptoms improve. Lack of results initially does not mean that you are not improving. Each treatment is cumulative and results are not often achieved until after 3 to 4 sessions.
Are there any associated risks or side effects from a laser treatment?
After more than twenty years of use by healthcare professionals, very few side effects have been reported. Most commonly, people may experience an aggravation of old injuries or pain syndromes for a few days as the healing response is more active after treatment.
